I didn't do as well as i thought i did. I studied the wrong material for the test. Overall i enjoyed this course and am excited to start Western Civilization.

North Korea movie - day 2

In the movie today we mainly saw the life of an everyday person living in North Korea. There are many blind people young and old, that haven't been able to see in years. With the doctor there and his crew, he will preform thousands of surgeries to help these people. I learned that there is a meeting place that both North and South Korea meet up to discuss (this only happens sometimes). i also learned that  40% of the children in North Korea are not fed properly and do not have the shelter they need to survive.

North Korea Movie - Day 1

Today we started watching a movie about North Korea. A journalist got together with a doctor that is going to North Korea to preform surgery on the many blind that are there, the people in North Korea don't know that she is a journalist. They just assume she's part of the doctors staff. While there, they take a look at the are and conditions the people are in outside of the capital.

Korea - North and South

North Korea

  • oppressive government
  • very secluded and isolated from the world
  • currently headed by Kim Jong-Un
  • Kim Jong-Un didn't seem to like The Interview
  • notice that they say "Korea," not North Korea -  they claim to be the legitimate rulers of the entire peninsula
Oppressive Government
  • state-run socialist goverment that many consider to be a Stalinist dictatorship
  • official name: Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK)
  • notice that they say "Korea," not North Korea -  they claim to be the legitimate rulers of the entire peninsula
secluded and isolated
  • isolated by the government
  • also somewhat isolated geographically
  • after all, they are on a peninsula
  • Pyongyang is the capital

Differences:
lights out at night
not connected
no money
little electricity
